State approved diploma course in acting, dancing, singing and musical theatre

Conservatory Sunrise_Studios is located in Vienna's seventh district. The airy studios are fully equipped and offer a perfect environment for creative work. Many theatres in the vicinity (Raimundtheatre, Volkstheatre, Kosmos-Theatre or Off-Theatre ) provide rich cultural surroundings and not only this aspect creates an atmosphere in which students will be able to deliver their very best.

The aim of our 4-year state-approved professional degree course with the focus in either acting (drama), dance, singing or musical theatre is to train our students as singers, dancers and actors, imparting knowledge and skills that will enable them to establish themselves within the industry.

At the end of the course, students take their state-approved diploma examination awarding them recognised artist status. Each semester ends with an internal control exam in Dance (Ballet, Musical-Jazz, Sing&Dance, Tap), Singing/Musical Dramatics as well as Acting (Drama)/Improvisation and Elocution. Every school year ends with a larger scale exam, determining the advance into the following year. Our goal is to create the most efficient timetable for each individual student while offering a wide variety of subjects. Number of lessons in a specific subject as well as the actual content of lessons are accorded to a special International system. Possible skills already acquired and the individual progress of each student are also taken into consideration.

We offer 30 hours training in dancing, singing and acting per week, the following subjects are taught within the course:

Dance: Ballett, Jazz, Modern Jazz, Musical Jazz/Repertoire, Dance Condition, Hip

Hop/Street, Stretching/Body Work, Sing&Dance, Tap

Singing: Solo, Ensemble, Voice Formation for Singers, Aural Training, Solfeggio, Breathing

Technique, Music Dramatics / Musical Theatre Repertoire, Music Theory, Body&Voice

Acting: Elocution, Acting (Drama), Theatre Sports/Improvisation

By including subjects such as Theatre Sports in acting, offering additional special classes in singing and several dancing styles as well as by inviting international well respected artists as guest teachers, we deliberatly provide as broad a base as possible, so that our students are best prepared for their life as a performing artist. Also, having enjoyed the benefits of such a diverse education, they will be more versatile than their competitors when the time comes to audition. It is our belief that a musical theatre performer should receive the same amount of training in all three areas (dance, singing, acting) to be able to work in each field seperately as well as combining the skills. Further more we offer state approved diploma with the focus in acting (with professional training in dance and singing), or with the focus in singing (with professional training in acting and dance) or with the focus in dance (with professional training in acting and singing).

To enable our students to get enough of professional practice for the artistical future we organize some possibilities to perform in plays, shows, films, concerts, charity events or International competitions during the training period.

Besides we support our graduates to build their carreers, advising and informing them about auditions as well as about job offers and connecting them to the industry.

All our teaching staff are renowned experts in their fields, having appeared onstage and screen internationally. They share their experience by employing the most efficient methods geared towards practical implementation. Apart from the intense regular classes, we arrange singing masterclasses and high class dance workshops with well-kown international performing artists. That represent a unique chance to work with experienced performers.In general, we aim to equip our students with both practical and theoretical knowledge about the profession they are about to enter. This is why we organize additional seminars, some of the topics include nutrition workshops for performing artists, anatomy, physiotherapeutical coaching, careers advice, presentation at auditions and legal aspects (stage contracts,  agency contracts etc).

Applications / Auditions:
Regarding the current and upcoming school year only a few places of study are still available, so Sunrise_Studios can accept only the best qulalified applicants. (In case of successful audition result and in exceptional circumstances it's also possible to reserve a study place to a subsequent date).

Previous knowledge in eighter dancing, singing or acting is required but not in all three branches obligatory because due to an efficient level system also basic knowledge can become imparted in different subjects. Sunrise_Studios expect sufficient artistic potential to be qualified as well for the training in dancing, acting and singing too. Suitable performing personality as well as musicality and a healthy and developable glottis are further basic requirements. Audition procedure:

In-person auditions:
common warm up and choreography under the guidance of a dance instructor (nothing special to prepare). Further more the jury check the singing and acting basic qualifications by use of vocal exercises and acting improvsisations. Candiates who have already previous knowledge in the field of acting and/or singing please prepare two songs/one monologue.

Video auditions:
If you aren't able to attend one of our auditions in person please send audition videos which enable our jury to assess your dancing, acting and singing skills and talent. Preparatory Year (Trial Year)
Besides of the state recognized diploma course we also offer a "Preparatory Year" to find out the artistic potential and/or to acquire the basic knowledge for a later audition. No prior audition is required to begin such a preparatory year.
If participants of a preparatory year (trial year) decide at the end of their preparatory year to be auditioned, it is possible to continue the training in the state-approved course.

International dancers/dance talents who want to put their former dsancing skills and artistic potential to a wider basis to be best prepared for the versatile needs of the industry, have now the opportunity to apply for entrance to the Conservatory Sunrise_Studios (1070 Wien, Neubaugasse 38).

Sunrise_Studios offer a 4-year state-approved professional degree course in dancing, acting and singing with the focus in musical theatre to train espescially talented dancers not only in dancing, but as well in singing and acting, imparting knowledge and skills that will enable them to establish themselves best within the industry.

At the end of the course, students take the state-approved diploma examination, awarding them internationally recognised artist status in the field of dancing, acting and singing/musical theatre.

Sunrise teaching staff are renowned experts in their fields, having appeared onstage and screen internationally. Further more Sunrise_Studios consistently cooperate as well with international guest teachers, among others US-Star Dancer Rasta Thomas (founder of the international Hit-Show "Rock the Ballet" and of the famous dance company "Bad Boys of Dance"), Beyoncé choreographer Kobi Rozenfeld (Los Angeles), Hip-Hop-Star Nina Kripas, Urban Dance and Contemporary expert Russell Adamson, Lyrical jazz expert Mike Loewenrosen, tap and musical theatre expert Melissa Hinz or many more. Besides Sunrise_Studios aim to equip their students with both practical and theoretical knowledge about the profession they are about to enter.
